1. What is Make Me Watch TV?
Make Me Watch TV is the site where you get to force me, Aric McKeown, to watch whatever TV show you please.
Not only that, but you can watch me watch TV! That’s right, my webcam will be capturing my delight or anguish as I watch TV.
Will you be nice and make me watch Lost, or will you be cruel and make me watch The Big Bang Theory?
The choice is up to you. All I can do is complain.
2. So who are you?
I am Aric McKeown, an improviser and podcaster in the booming northern metropolis of Minneapolis, MN (www.mustacherangers.com), a cartoonist (www.ashfieldonline.com, a voice actor, animator, and actor (www.dannywashington.com), and a target of seeking (www.leastdangerousgame.com).
3. How do I make you watch TV?
There are two very simple ways to make me watch TV.
Option 1 is free! This option lets you vote. There will be a poll set up for every day. The poll will list a few shows that are available for viewing that day.
Voting can be done RIGHT HERE!
You can see what channels I get and what programs are playing, so you can email any shows you’d like to add to the poll, by using this schedule from ZAP2it.
Voting closes at 6pm the day of the show viewing for all time slots.
Option 2 is by a sponsorship fee. Sponsorship lets you override the popular vote, if you really want to force me to watch something. You will also get a link to your site in show blog stating that you have sponsored the viewing.
The show blog and my images will be available in the archives after the show is complete, so users looking at past show blogs will see your sponsorship link.
4. What are the sponsorship prices?
The prices are very simple. $5 for every half hour a show is on.
So a half hour sitcom would require a sponsorship of $5 dollars. A one hour drama would be $10. A one and a half hour special would be $15. A two hour Lifetime movie would be $20.
Do you see the pattern? I knew you could do it!
5. Do you hate TV?
Not entirely. I do hate a lot of TV. When shows like Arrested Development are treated like crap by their networks and shows like The King of Queens have a long lifespan, there is something seriously wrong with the state of TV.
In being forced to view the good and the bad programs, I hope to become more educated in exactly why so much TV is horrible. By blogging about different varieties of shows, I think we’ll all discover something about the state of entertainment.
6. How do I know what I can make you watch?
You can see what channels I get and what programs are playing by using this schedule from ZAP2it.
7. Are there limitations to the shows you will watch?
Not will watch, but can watch. I have a day job so I am unable to stay home and watch daytime TV. I know, it’s a shame. If sponsorship really takes off, maybe that will change.
For now, I can watch shows from 7pm to 10pm Central Time weekdays. Prime time! When I should be watching reality shows and cop dramas.
I will try my best to watch all TV programs that I am sponsored for and that win votes. If I can’t, due to circumstances, your sponsorship fee will be refunded in full.
If someone has already sponsored me for a specific time period that you also want, you will be refunded in full for that too. Unless you want to pick another show or another time.
8. Can I link to you?
You sure as heck can. In its infancy, this site will depend on word of mouth. If you like the site, tell your friends. And your not friends. I’m not picky.
I even made some images that you can use to link to this site. I wouldn’t do this for just anybody, you know?
9. I have questions about voting.
Great, asking questions is a sign of intelligence.
First, you can vote for the TV shows RIGHT HERE!
You can vote only once per poll, but you can vote once on all polls.
Don’t see any shows you want me to watch? Find what programs are playing by using this schedule from ZAP2it.
Voting will be closed at 6pm CST the day of the time slot.
In the instance of a tie, I get to choose the show from those that have tied.
Happy voting!
