Everwood: Pilot
After much rallying, Everwood finally wins this weekend’s TV DVD viewing. So let us start already!
The show begins with Doc Brown in New York. That will be easy to remember, with Back to the Future as that thing you use to remember other things. There’s a word for that.
Doc Brown’s wife died in a car accident on the way to their son’s piano recital. Doc Brown would have been driving, if he hadn’t still been working late at the hospital. As usual. Mrs. Brown also said he was a lousy husband and a terrible father before she left for the recital. Isn’t that what everyone fears will be their last words to a loved one? Ouch.
Brown went a little eccentric, quit his job as a neurosurgeon, and went to live in Everwood, Colorado with his son and daughter. His son isn’t too excited about this fact.
So far, the situations and dialogue in this show have been fantastic.
Finally, Doc Brown is growing a beard. I will now refer to him only as Beardy.
Beardy got an article in Time magazine about how important he is. Everyone in Everwood knows who he is now, along with his kin. Beardy just wants to set up a general practice in town. Beardy will be setting up shop in the 10 years closed train depot. Naturally. You see, he is eccentric, but not the fake “Look at me, I’m being so crazy and spontaneous” eccentric.
Son of Beardy, or SOB, has become rather infatuated with a girl named Amy at school. So much so, that he had himself a case of the nocturnal emissions. Ahhh, to be a teenager again. Embarrassment in every pocket.
The one town doctor feels a little threatened by Beardy, who doesn’t mean to step on the toes of anybody. What if the Earth is just the toe of a giant? Wouldn’t that be weird?
Guess who sees and talks to his dead wife? I will give you only one guess.
Beardy, in another insane move, is not charging any patients for anything. That will make the other doctor a little pissed. Ah ha. Amy, SOB’s infatuation, is the daughter of the other doctor. He found this out after getting inyo a tussle with Amy’s brother.
Beardy and SOB also had a little shouting match. Not little, really. It was boisterous and in the middle of the street.
The whole moving to Everwood plan was to prove to Beardy’s dead wife that he could be the kind and responsible man he should be.
Beardy’s receptionist turned out to be the other doctor’s mother. Beardy is making all sorts of enemies! Well, just one enemy. I guess he is making the same enemy over and over.
Amy has a boyfriend. Oh no! But he is in a coma! Hooray! But she wants SOB’s father to work on him. Oh no!
Curse you, Everwood fans. I wanted to defy you. I wanted to prove that this show could not win me over. But it has. Everwood is a good show.
And if I didn’t think that, my wife would force me to watch the rest of it, because she likes it too.

This is an awesome show. Trust me, you’ll love it just as much as everyone else does when you watch it.

Hey Aric, I think you’ll LOVE Alias season 2 Episode 13, ‘Phase One’, Best episode ever, all the men i know who watches Alias went crazy for the first scene.
Comment by Julie — July 5, 2006 #
Loved ‘Phase One’, they were smart to put that lingerie scene first, that was so sexy. It was the superbowl episode. Truely awesome.
Anyway, I think every single episode of Alias is outstanding, and underrated by some people. Maybe it’s because it’s quite complicated, until you watch it the second time. Thats what makes Alias fans love it, the show challenges the viewer to think. Unlike other shows, spoon feeding their viewers.

Go Phase One!!!

Where did the “Everwood” fans come from? Where did the “Veronica Mars” fans go?
Comment by Steve — July 6, 2006 #
Phase One is not up on the block, guys. Aric only has season one.
Comment by Annie — July 6, 2006 #
Im an Alias fan, but i believe it is time for Everwood fans to have a chance
Comment by Nikki — July 6, 2006 #
Thanks Nikki! That means a lot.
I promise you though, that Everwood isn’t a series that you should take lightly. I’m a guy and nearly every episode has me in tears. There is some terrific writing and acting in Everwood. Shame The CW can’t see that…

That was really of you to say that Nikki. Take a look at Everwood. Watch one episode and you’ll be hooked! Everwood deals with real issues that affect real people!
Comment by Jessica — July 6, 2006 #
I don’t understand.
Everwood is not coming back.
AT all.
Great show but cost too much so it gets the ax.
Why do you insist on making Aric watch it? Give Veronica a chance! Aric you know you want Veronica and the rest of you would if you actually watched it.
Veronica Mars = Best Unwatched TV Show
Comment by lauren — July 6, 2006 #
Aww, come on people! Veronica Mars, so kicks Everwood’s ass!
Comment by Clarity — July 6, 2006 #
So your saying, that just because the show “may” have been cancelled, Aric can’t watch it? Veronica has had its turn to be successful. It was on CBS for a few weeks, and it still DID NOT catch on! People don’t want to watch. So, lets give Everwood the chance and support it never had!! Aric, you wont be sorry, and neither will you other guys. Watch it and be amazed!
Comment by Charles — July 6, 2006 #
You misinterpreted what I said. People have got an idea stuck in their heads that if they keep trying that there is the smallest bit of chance that Everwood will be returning. I watched Everwood since the second season. It IS a good show but it is over (another year of torture of 7th Heaven). Even though the show is over, yes, Aric can watch it but what is the point. If Veronica Mars and Everwood swapped positions and Everwood lived and VM died, I would vote for Everwood, but I’m trying to make the best out of VM’s situation. Sorry if I somehow insulted Everwood, no harm intended.
Give Veronica a chance; most likely, you will like it.
Comment by lauren — July 7, 2006 #
Why do you people keep taking it seriously and making a whole post packed with ‘why’ Aric should watch a TV show.
Especially you VM fans, this is ONE guy we’re talking about, what will ONE normal man do to help VM just by watching it? Jeez VM fans, you guys are so serious.
Comment by Chris — July 7, 2006 #
Chris, have you seen the comments Everwood fans have made ever since the finale? They seem to think Aric can save the show.
Comment by Julia — July 8, 2006 #
I wouldn’t say that. Well, at least, not all of us are like that. I know I just want to get Everwood more exposure, which is harmless. The only thing that “Could” save the show is the campagin going on, to actually save it.
Comment by Charles — July 8, 2006 #
I dont think anything can save a show. Even if it is the best show in the world, if i hasnt got the ratings, then it will be cancelled. I dont think that they will change thier minds just because some people want it to stay on.
Comment by Nikki — July 8, 2006 #
Nikki-
I agree with you. Before Alias got canceled, there were numerous campaigns to keep it on. these included an online voting petition and thousands of letters sent to ABC among other things. What it all came down to was that it just didnt have the ratings to stay on. The networks never make rash decisions, but once they make up their minds, there is no changing them. Nothing you do on this website (veronica Mars fans) will keep your show going.

I love that Alias is up for Aric to watch. For us, Having him watch the show is not about saving anything or influencing anyone. It is for one simple purpose, to make 1 man watch the show and to be able to watch as he enjoys it. Alias fans are big on converting people, not to keep the show going, but to open their lives to our world. Without being to Dramatic, i think VM and Everwood fans need to calm down and remember that you can’t save a show on a website.
Comment by Nunya — July 9, 2006 #
YAY !!! so glad you got to watch it finally. I knew you’d like it, you have an eye for quality. Hopefully you get to watch the whole season.
Comment by Ryan — July 9, 2006 #
Everwood, especially the pilot, is a pretty hard one to escape liking. Great recap or such there, too. Haha, SOB…
And as for the believing no show can be saved, plenty of shows have been saved and/or brought back in one form or another.

Please help save my favorite show! Everwood is amazing and needs to live on!
