Always full of spoilers! Beware!

My Name is Earl

My Name is EarlHey, this is a show I like! It is My Name is Earl! It is also a rerun that I have already seen. Hey, that is okay. Maybe it can give me a little deeper insight into it’s being, instead of the uninhibited giggles it usually provides.

Okay okay. Okay. I am watching it, not blogging. Snap out of it Aric. Observe. Observe.

Oh no, here is something. Remember my observation about House, M.D. where every episode is the same? My Name is Earl has the same thing going for it. Perhaps I judged our good friend House too harshly.

The basic layout of My Name is Earl is the same every episode. Earl, that is the main character if you have not seen the show or read the title of the show before, has a list of bad things he has done. He tries to cross a bad thing off of his list every episode by making up for it. Usually there is some trouble. Everyone learns a lesson. Then Earl makes everything okay.

Here is why this TV formula works. We all know how it going to turn out, but that is not what matters. What matters is the journey. It is comforting to know how the show starts and ends, so we can enjoy the madness in the middle. It works for My Name is Earl and it probably works for House, M.D.

Have we all learned something about ourselves and about television? Good. I feel productive!

Should I dissect why the characters are likable? I do not want to overdo my productivity.

Perhaps I should talk about the Flash Flood Warning for Dakota County until 10:00pm. Or the Sever T-storm Warning for Pierce County until 8:30pm. I do not think that is part of the show though. I hope Earl does not get flooded.

Did you know that we love out weather in Minnesota? Love to talk about it, at least. Need to start a conversation with one of us Minnesotans? Just say “How about that weather?” It does not matter what the weather is, you will get a five minute response.

This episode has Earl messing with a kind old lady so her eyes do not dry up. She is hilarious.

Now we are learning our lesson for the episode. It is about teamwork. Maybe. Whatever the lesson was, it all worked out. Everybody is happy.

Hooray! Now there is a toilet paper commercial. Did you know I love toilet paper commercials? There is something about little ladies quilting something that someone is going to wipe their ass on. Or talking cartoon bears who squat. Why is that okay to be on TV?

  1. I’m looking for a particular song that was played on the re-run of My name is Earl on 4/06/2006. Can you help me out with the soundtrack for this episode?
